Hi, I'm Jesse Tomlinson. I have been professionally translating Spanish>English manuals, academic documents and humanities, business and marketing texts since I graduated with a master’s degree in translation and interpretation in 2011 from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. As of 2013 I am an Expert Translator certified by the Judiciary Council of Jalisco.
I also interpret Spanish<>English in consecutive, simultaneous and whispering modes of interpreting. Translation and interpreting express different sides of my personality and I am equally passionate about both these aspects of my work.
In translation, it is crucial to be able to view a text from different angles and to consider all the options before crafting a final product. This focus on inclusion and respect for different perspectives is a skill I focus on continually in my practice. My undergraduate degree in philosophy from the University of Toronto has been a great aid in supporting and understanding the complexities of translation.
My experiences in Mexico, combined with a general-knowledge undergraduate degree and the specialized perspective from my master’s program make me an excellent candidate to translate your humanities-related texts, literary works and technical material from Spanish into English.
